RUSSELLVILLE - Arkansas Tech University junior softball player Jalissa Gum collected another piece of hardware for her trophy case on Monday, July 11, as the Great American Conference honored her as its Female Athlete of the Year.
 
Gum's selection marks the fourth consecutive year that a Golden Suns student-athlete has been recognized as the Female Student-Athlete of the Year by the GAC.

Russellville Patriots American Legion baseball team defeats Cabot, on the road; by 17-1 score in play on Monday night. Joel Barker was the winning pitcher for the Post 20 cause. Russellville now advances to first round play in the State Tournament on Friday, as they face Mountain Home at the Hendrix College baseball complex for a 1 p/m match-up.

The Morrilton American Legion baseball team has a doubleheader scheduled at Stuttgart tonight (Tuesday). The first game starts at five o'clock.

Congratulations to Russellville angler Zack Freeman, who won the Walmart BFL Tournament, this past weekend on Lake Dardanelle.  Freeman claimed the win with a 5-bass limit of 18.12.  2nd place went to Brandon Lee with a limit weighing 18.3, 3rd to Shawn Gordon with an 18.2 limit of fish.
